My current research is on a:) the emergence and transformation of the advertising film in American cinema (up until 1940), and b:) a history of nontheatrical film production and exhibition before 1923, when the 16mm film gauge is standardized.
I’m also completing articles on Vermont’s first feature film (with Fred Pond), small-town exhibitors and the early Hollywood studio era, and towns that banned movie theaters in the silent period.
